Teaching

My Phoenix Studio Courses

As well as being an artist, I also manage the stunning Phoenix Studio, a private art school in rural Oxfordshire. We host creative courses lead by various tutors and I teach from there too.

Up until now, I have taught two different classes - Clay Animals and Wire and Mixed Media. Our two remaining scheduled clay animal courses in August have sold out and, I am afraid, no further courses have been planned for the remainder of 2021. In the summer months, we pitch a marquee in the meadow, effectively doubling the studio's teaching space. This is not an option in the colder winter months and given the nature of the Covid pandemic, the prospect of teaching in an enclosed space does not appeal whilst there is still so much uncertainty. Therefore I suspect that courses will not return until the spring of 2022 - when they do return though, I will be running more courses than ever before and with new formats too!

Email james@phoenixstudio.co.uk to express your interest in attending one of his courses. By doing this you will be one of the first to know when the new dates are announced. Do also sign up to the mailing list as well to keep up to date with James' progress and Phoenix Studio life!

Schools & Other Organisations

Over my 11 years at the Phoenix Studio, I have had the great pleasure of working with a number of schools, charities, and community groups.

I have a proven track record of putting fun, creative, and visually striking art projects together, with each workshop being designed to fit the group's needs. You can read about my past projects over on the Phoenix Studio website.

In the times of Covid, I have also been putting on zoom-based drawing sessions which have been a big hit.

I am always looking to work with new groups so do be in touch if you want to collaborate. Email james@phoenixstudio.co.uk to discuss ideas!
